Kaikoura, situated outside of Christchurch, is one of the best places close to Christchurch for dolphin watching and also swimming with dolphins.
Just a short drive from Christchurch, Kaikoura can be reached in around 2.5 hours and is often home to large pods of dusky dolphins, which regularly number more than 500 dolphins.
